A LEGACY MADE FOR FUN
1986–1988: Roots in Marin County
Marin Bikes is founded in the birthplace of mountain biking — Marin County, California.
The Madrone Trail, Marin’s first model, turns heads and lays the groundwork for three decades of performance-driven mountain bikes.
Marin begins naming models after iconic local landmarks: Muirwoods, Bolinas Ridge, Pine Mountain, Indian Fire Trail, Eldridge Grade, and Hidden Canyon.
By 1988, the Marin Team Titanium breaks new ground as one of the industry’s first production titanium mountain bikes, signaling Marin’s early commitment to innovation.
1991: Pioneers of Hybrid Cycling
Located near the cycling hub of San Francisco, Marin helps define a new category — the hybrid bike.
Marin introduces some of the industry’s first hybrid models, expanding the brand’s reach to urban commuters and everyday riders.
1993: Full Suspension Innovation
Marin launches the Titanium FRS, a groundbreaking full-suspension mountain bike featuring early Manitou suspension components and weighing just 25 lbs.
Pro rider Jurgen Beneke pilots the Titanium FRS to a World Championship, cementing Marin’s reputation as an engineering leader.
1990s–2000s: Building a Global Following
Marin earns a worldwide reputation for innovation, performance, and fun.
The brand introduces hydroformed, monocoque, and Quad-Link full suspension designs.
With growing emphasis on pavement and hybrid bikes, Marin becomes one of the key influencers in the global cycling industry.
2012–2013: A New Chapter
Under new ownership and leadership by industry veterans, Marin begins a revitalization focused on innovation, design, and rider experience.
2014: Expanding Horizons
Launch of the Attack Trail and Mount Vision, Marin’s first carbon full-suspension mountain bikes.
The award-winning Fairfax “Speed Commute” line redefines the hybrid category with sleek design and performance.
2015: IsoTrac & Big-Wheel Evolution
The Rift Zone 29er debuts with IsoTrac suspension, 120/110mm travel, and carbon frame options — a hallmark of trail performance.
2016: Celebrating 30 Years
To honor its heritage, Marin reintroduces the Pine Mountain and Four Corners, featuring classic cromoly frames and retro-inspired graphics.
The new “Beyond Road” Gestalt line launches, giving riders a modern gravel and adventure platform.
2017: Hawk Hill Sets a Benchmark
The Hawk Hill trail bike becomes an industry benchmark, offering exceptional performance at an unbeatable value.
It quickly becomes Marin’s best-selling model, both in units and in revenue.
2018: Full Suspension Renaissance
Marin partners with Naild to launch the Wolf Ridge, introducing a truly new suspension concept that redefines trail performance.
The MultiTrac platform expands with additional Hawk Hill, Rift Zone, and B-17 models, strengthening Marin’s off-road lineup.
2019: Leading the Trends
Marin continues to evolve with new models including the Presidio and a growing eBike family, while expanding other popular lines.
2020: Carbon Craftsmanship
The Rift Zone Carbon series raises the bar with new high-performance frames.
The Headlands brings carbon to the Beyond Road category — versatile, capable, and unmistakably Marin.
2021: Electric Excitement
The Alpine Trail E becomes Marin’s most capable eMTB, earning rave reviews worldwide.
On the pavement side, the Larkspur revives the classic “mixte” style with a modern twist — the ultimate multi-surface cruiser.
2022: Continuing the Fun
The legendary Alcatraz, developed with rider Matt Jones, returns with two frame sizes and striking new graphics.
